Bathtub drains collect dirt and other elements that occasionally lead to some slow-emptying drain. Hiring a plumber to fix the problem is costly, and typically not needed when the issue is obstructed by regular daily buildup. Maintaining a few items available allows you to resolve the slow bathtub drain yourself with little work.
Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into the drain, and follow up using 1 cup white vinegar. Allow the ingredients combine and foam for five minutes; this deodorizes the drain and loosens mild blockage. Turn on the hot water and let it run via the drain for 30 minutes. Look carefully at the water drainage to find out whether it is slow.
Put a plunger head over the bathtub drain opening and dip four to five times. Run hot water down the drain and examine for slow drainage. Repeat the stirring two to 3 times as needed until the blockage is cleared.
Use a pipe snake in drains with thicker blockage. Eliminate the drain cover when it pulls out, or in the event that you cannot remove it, unscrew the drain overflow panel using a screwdriver.
Put a set of gloves on your hands, then push the pipe snake into the drain opening or overflow opening. The snake looks like a thin hose and readily works its way into the drain before it strikes a block. After the head strikes the blockage and gets trapped, pull and push vigorously till you break through the obstructed buildup. If you’re using an electrical pipe snake, turn it on if you hit the blockage and allow it to agitate for about 10 minutes. Gently pull the pipe out snake; a lot of the blockage is going to be on the mind of the pipe snake. Scrub the drain with hot water when you are finished to wash away the broken-up residue.
Replace the drain cover or the drain overflow panel.
